If I’m Happy and I Know It What am I Supposed To Do?
CLAP YOUR HANDS.
Where Where Where is the Joy?
DOWN IN MY HEART.
Hide It Under a Bushel?
NO! I’M GONNA LET IT SHINE.
The message of happiness, joy and light to children in Vacation Bible School (that is where I learned these songs) is affirming their natural experience. As adults have we forgotten?
One of my clients recently named JOY as the emotion he felt in hypnosis. And that song, “There is JOY, JOY, JOY, JOY down in my heart,” has been in my mind ever since, maybe his too since I sang a few lines as he was walking out of the office.
As adult we can remember what joy and happiness are, but what about The Light? What does it mean to you to let YOUR light shine?
In the world’s religious and spiritual practices the light has many meanings but there is one core idea, that it is within us and from our creator or spiritual guide. Here is how the different religions view the light:
Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism
So however you connect to the light, remember that it is within and around you and connects you spiritually and connects us all to one another. It brightens the day of you and those around you as well as serves as a guide.
In God’s famous words, LET THERE BE LIGHT. And don’t forget to feel the joy in your heart and to be so happy that you clap your hands.
These are such simple yet powerful messages that deserve repeating in song. Here is a link to This Little Light of Mine; Here are the lyrics to If You’re Happy.
If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands (clap clap)
If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands (clap clap)
If you’re happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it
If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands. (clap clap)If you’re happy and you know it, stomp your feet (stomp stomp)
If you’re happy and you know it, stomp your feet (stomp stomp)
If you’re happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it
If you’re happy and you know it, stomp your feet. (stomp stomp)If you’re happy and you know it, shout “Hurray!” (hoo-ray!)
If you’re happy and you know it, shout “Hurray!” (hoo-ray!)
If you’re happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it
If you’re happy and you know it, shout “Hurray!” (hoo-ray!)If you’re happy and you know it, do all three (clap-clap, stomp-stomp, hoo-ray!)
If you’re happy and you know it, do all three (clap-clap, stomp-stomp, hoo-ray!)
If you’re happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it
If you’re happy and you know it, do all three. (clap-clap, stomp-stomp, hoo-ray!)http://www.theteachersguide.com/kidsongs/ifyourehappy.htm
