Release Pressure and Align With Your Inner Self to Feel Good While Reaching Your Goals
January is always full of promise, a chance to start fresh with resolutions to right the behavior that’s kept us from living our best life during the last year. We’ll lose the weight, stop smoking, and finally learn how to speak French.
With these big promises to “get it right this time” comes the hidden emotional pressure of trying to be perfect so we don’t waste another year.
And when that pressure becomes too much? We self-sabotage and beat ourselves up for being “lazy” and unmotivated.
But the real reason we so often fail when it comes to New Year’s resolutions is not that we’re lazy. It’s because we try to change our behavior without changing how we feel.
Real change doesn’t come from discipline alone. It comes from sustaining the feeling of joy in our lives. Without a positive association to go along with working out or learning something new, you won’t be able to find the motivation you need to make real, lasting change.
Hypnosis can help you connect with your innate feelings of joy and help you bring that positivity to every goal so it sticks.
Why New Year’s resolutions don’t work:
Willpower has always been at the center of change. You just have to want something enough, and everything will fall into place. If you don’t achieve your desired outcome, then you must not have really wanted it in the first place, right?
Not exactly.
Willpower works against the subconscious, not with it. First off, it relies on your conscious mental state, which is prone to fluctuating. It’s easily defeated in the face of ice-cold January mornings when you’d rather stay in bed than head out to a 6:00 AM yoga class. Secondly, behavioral change that goes against who you are on a subconscious level will always lose. The subconscious mind prefers to play it safe and stick to what it knows.
So, if you don’t address the root causes of what’s holding you back from changing your life, willpower will just evaporate. You can make all the checklists you want and stock up on buckets of oatmeal, but it simply won’t make a difference.
You must work to release the emotional blocks hidden within your subconscious.
Otherwise, you’ll drown in self-criticism. Your goals become all about correcting of “bad” behavior instead of a self-supporting goal like having more joy in your life.
When you feel like you’re failing, it’s hard to rally and embrace a positive mindset.
Why you might be resisting joy:
Believe it or not, joy is actually our natural state of being.
This notion can be difficult to embrace due to a lifetime of experiences and beliefs that tell us we’re not worthy of it. We’ve been led to believe that a state of joy is only possible after being productive, putting in the “hard work.” Or, in this case, living up to the stringent resolutions you’ve set for yourself.
It’s deeply ingrained in our subconscious that we must suffer to be deserving of joy.
Not true!
Joy must come first if we’re going to have any chance of achieving our goals.
But if joy is a foreign concept to our subconscious, then you’ll wind up resisting it at all costs to feel “safe,” and by safe, we mean staying in the current known situation.
Hypnosis helps you embrace your joyful identity:
Hypnosis can help you break free from these deeply held subconscious beliefs and return to your natural state of joyful living.

A trained hypnotist can help you work with your inner critic and rewire your beliefs about joy. Joy can feel indulgent without experiencing some sort of struggle; hypnosis can help you re-frame it as being supportive.
Instead of “trying harder,” hypnosis aligns your inner joy with your outer lived experience.
Hypnosis can help you embrace a truly joyful identity. For instance, sticking to an intense exercise regimen becomes more about “I’m someone who enjoys moving my body.”
Your subconscious holds tightly to emotions, beliefs, and habits. Hypnosis shifts its perspective on these outdated, unhealthy beliefs so you can release them once and for all. In their place, positive, productive beliefs are installed . . . joyful ones that allow you to show yourself some grace.
Change becomes easy, even effortless.
When you approach resolutions with an open mind and heart, they become activities that support who you want to be. Instead of a heart and mind that wrestles with stress and anxiety, you begin responding to life with calm, curiosity, and “safe” emotions.
