WHY DESIRE IS NEEDED FOR LASTING BEHAVIOR CHANGE AND WHY HYPNOSIS WORKS
Ready for a behavior change? Let’s say you want to stop a bad habit, like smoking. The conscious mind decides based on rational information that stopping is a good idea. But, then the subconscious must act on that decision. The conscious mind thinks, the subconscious does. Or doesn’t. This is why so many turn to hypnosis to stop smoking.
Since the subconscious is currently wired to automatically carry out the response to smoke (in order to relax perhaps) the result is frustrating. The subconscious is 90% of what we do (how we respond).
This is why willpower doesn’t work. You must address the need (or stronger emotion) to smoke before the subconscious can create a new positive behavior (the weaker emotion to stop due to health concerns). In other words, the desire to be smoke-free must be stronger emotionally. Hypnosis is a state of mind that creates the sense of the positive emotion of already having quit smoking and that feeling is exaggerated so that the mind believes you are already a non smoker.
Hypnotist, Valerie Grimes explains in this video her own smoking habit and how she shifted the desire to smoke which helped her to stop instantly. Now that is how hypnosis works.

Hypnosis is a form of cooperative therapy that targets specific problems and attitudes. Hypnosis is based on the idea that each client is willing to work toward a goal with a qualified specialist, and break out of bad patterns. If certain behaviors are threatening personal relationships, physical and emotional health, or success at work, it could be helpful to examine the root of these problems in a controlled environment with a certified hypnotist. Hypnosis provides clarity to clients who may not understand their inability to change or improve chronic situations in their lives.
