Well, it doesn’t quite work that way, but there are ways of exorcising those negative flashbacks to times we’d rather forget.

If a bad memory is still haunting you years later, then hypnosis can help shift your mindset so that it’s buried six feet under.

Why do bad memories stay with us?

Bad memories are kind of like cobwebs. They’re sticky and no matter how hard we try to detach ourselves from them, there’s always some residue left behind.

When the memory of a traumatic event stays with us, it’s usually a sign of some kind of unfinished business. We may not have fully addressed the trauma so it’s difficult to truly move past it. This is because the emotions that took hold during the event are actually stronger than the act itself. It’s still lurking in the shadows of our minds.

And the younger we were when it happened, the stronger the impression it leaves. Why? Because we were less equipped to understand the emotions and give them meaning.

For instance, think back to a past Halloween when you were perhaps five years old. If you had an older brother, there’s a good chance he wanted to have some fun and decided to jump out of the dark, attempting to scare you with a rubber snake. Because that’s what older brothers do.

But you’d probably be scarred for life. At five, your brain thinks the snake is real and because you weren’t mentally prepared for the “joke,” you were thrown off by the surprise of it.

So now you’re dealing with the first emotion of shock, but there’s also a secondary emotion at play. You probably feel the need to get your revenge on your brother. When these emotions combine, a fear of snakes takes hold . . . even though the snake was made of rubber and didn’t actually attack you.

That’s the cobweb.

It can stick around for years, maybe even decades.

Now, if this scary event had happened when you were fifteen, you would have had the sense to tell your brother to bug off and go about your day.

But when we’re not equipped with how to deal with how to advocate for ourselves or articulate our emotions, we’re stuck with emotional trauma. All of which becomes mental clutter.

How hypnosis helps to emotionally process bad memories:

So when we’re finally ready to begin the process of decluttering our minds of cobwebs and other emotional residue, how do we do it?

Enter the hypnotic state.

The hypnotic state of mind is a powerful tool that professional hypnotists use to access and modify deeply ingrained memories and emotions. When a person enters this relaxed, highly focused state, they become more open to suggestion and can more easily recall past events with vivid detail.

This allows the hypnotist to guide them back to the root cause of their fears or negative associations, such as a childhood incident with a snake. In this state, the individual can revisit the memory from a new vantage point, often with the wisdom and perspective of their adult self.

By experiencing the event differently under hypnosis, a person can reframe the memory and shift their perspective around the incident. So your once paralyzing fear of snakes will diminish as you view the past event through a new lens. An experienced hypnotist can help rewrite the emotional script associated with the memory, allowing one to reframe their thoughts and giving them emotional resolution.

This mental shift can have far-reaching effects, freeing the individual from deeply rooted fears or negative patterns of thought and behavior.

How we do it:

The Flow Center’s program has been helping people for decades who want to banish their negative thoughts and habits and transform their lives:

Journey deep into your subconscious: You’ll be guided into a deeply relaxed state that lets all other thoughts fall away so your mind can focus. This allows your subconscious to be more receptive to suggestion. The hypnotist will begin to unlock issues that have prevented you from experiencing self-acceptance and bring them to the surface.

Create new lovable habits for yourself: The hypnotist will then reprogram your old internal belief system and rewire it to accept self-love. This new “coding” will allow you to transform the way you see, respond, and attach meaning to your issues. Instead of the negative emotions and patterns you once had, you’ll be able to create new and lovable habits surrounding the way you see yourself.

Develop new positive and loving beliefs:  The voices in your head telling you that you’re not enough will be silenced. No more beating yourself up. Instead, you’ll have effortless kindness and respect for the amazing person you already are. You’ll be able to step confidently into new habits that celebrate all your strengths and see your old habits with more compassion as they depart from your life.

Imagine a future where it is all possible: You’ll be able to take more chances now that nothing is holding you back. Boldly embrace a new mindset where the opportunities open to you are endless. Nothing is beyond you. In fact, success is at the forefront of your mind.

Additionally, imagine a future where you break the cycle of negative thinking so your children don’t have to go through what you did.

See the benefits of self-love: The result is a gentle and effective ability to return to your natural love for yourself. It’s always been there, but it eroded over time when those negative beliefs crept in. Now that you’ve released those feelings, you have more space to allow your self-esteem to blossom.

Banishing bad memories and reclaiming your mind:

It’s time to take action so your haunting thoughts don’t keep rising from the dead!

Remember, clearing your mental clutter is an ongoing process, but you don’t have to do it alone. If you’re feeling stuck, an experienced hypnotist can be a powerful ally in this journey, helping you access and reframe those stubborn memories.
