Are You Subconsciously Undermining Your Sales Efforts?
If you’re a salesperson, then you know sales can be a tough game, demanding resilience, confidence, and a positive mindset learn how to stop self sabotage and boost your sales with hypnosis.
Some sales reps are absolute beasts when it comes to closing, dominating sales calls and easily smashing through their goals with success a foregone conclusion.
You can’t help but watch with envy. Surely these skills can be developed and honed, right?
But despite your best efforts—and even using many of the same sales tactics—you can never improve your sales or replicate the success of those high-volume closerswho possess an almost otherworldly confidence.
The problem may not be your sales methods at all.
It may be due to self-sabotaging behavior buried deep in your subconscious.
And if you don’t address the root causes sabotaging your success, you’ll never reach your full potential.
Hypnosis can unlock the source of undermining thoughts and behavioral patterns that prevent you from becoming a sales powerhouse.
Without these mental roadblocks, you can effortlessly move up the leader-board to become a force to be reckoned with on the sales team.
But how do you know if negative thought patterns firmly rooted in your subconscious mind are holding you back?
Ask yourself the following questions:
- Do you avoid representing new products?
- Are you having difficulty exceeding your current sales goal?
- Do you avoid calling on new people or certain customers?
- Do sales stop at the negotiation stage?
- Do you lack confidence when talking to new people?
If you answered yes to any of them, then your subconscious mind is likely affecting your behavior and, consequently, your results. Selling is a mental activity, and mastering it requires not just skill but the right mindset.
Here at The Flow Center in Dallas, our experienced hypnotists can help you learn how to use hypnosis as a secret weapon for achieving sales success.
Let’s explore the two parts of the mind and how they work against each other, define the differences between belief, thought, and habit, and demonstrate three laws of the mind to show why hypnosis can be a game-changer in sales.
The two parts of your mind: Thinker vs. Doer
The human mind is divided into two parts: the conscious and the subconscious. Understanding their roles is key to unlocking your sales potential.
The Conscious Mind: The Thinker
The conscious mind is analytical and logical. It contemplates, reasons, and makes decisions. This is the part of your mind that plans your sales strategy, analyzes market trends, and engages in critical thinking.
The Subconscious Mind: The Doer
The subconscious mind stores a vast array of information, including beliefs, opinions, feelings, and habits. It also controls involuntary functions like breathing and blood flow. More importantly, the subconscious mind seeks pleasure and avoids pain, often based on past experiences.
While the conscious mind (the Thinker) is responsible for planning and decision-making, the subconscious mind (the Doer) carries out actions and behaviors based on stored information and past experiences. Ideally, these two parts should work in harmony. However, old beliefs and negative feelings stored in the subconscious can sabotage the conscious mind’s intentions.
The Subconscious Saboteur: A Tale of Two Sales Reps
Our subconscious mind tends to project feelings from past experiences onto current situations.
For example, if you were once criticized harshly by an authority figure such as a parent, you might subconsciously associate that negative emotion with any similar authority figure you encounter today, such as a difficult customer.
Consider two sales representatives, Ben and Tyler, who are both aiming to sell their products to the most challenging customer in the county, Trent. Both have similar products, knowledge, and sales goals. However, their subconscious minds function very differently.
Ben: Supported by Positive Subconscious Programming
Ben’s subconscious mind is filled with positive memories and beliefs about his selling abilities.
One of his strongest childhood memories is being told he “could sell a hamburger to a vegan” after successfully selling out of carnival tickets. Later on, the memory of being congratulated by the Sales Manager in his first job as a car salesman is now imprinted onto his psyche. Piled on top of those are years of memories of making sales and receiving high-commission checks from other jobs. He only has positive thoughts and feelings associated with making sales.
Ben wakes up feeling confident and motivated, with a history of successful sales reinforcing his self-belief. His subconscious mind supports his goal, making his approach to Trent proactive and positive.
Tyler: Hindered by Negative Subconscious Programming
Tyler’s subconscious, on the other hand, is burdened with negative associations.
Trent reminds Tyler of his disapproving grandfather, triggering feelings of shame and anxiety. He’s carried around these subconscious feelings for decades.
Tyler isn’t conscious of those feelings—because they are in his subconscious mind—but they are there in the present moment and they affect what he feels, informing his reactions.
As he brushes his teeth, he thinks, “I really don’t want to go call on that old guy today.” Still, he has no conscious awareness of why he doesn’t want to—and when he notices he has a pain in his neck he doesn’t make the connection to the fact that he has often referred to Trent as a pain in the neck.
Nor is he aware that those old subconscious feelings are what’s behind not being able to find his keys. Or missing the exit and being late which causes him to miss Trent who’s already left, and thus, missing the sale.
It’s all cause and effect, but, of course, Tyler has no awareness of what’s transpired. In his mind, he has merely added another memory with a feeling of defeat attached.
This little tale demonstrates what happens to people all the time and illustrates how important it is for your subconscious mind to support your objectives.

Applying the Laws of Mind in Hypnosis for success:
To effectively harness the power of your subconscious mind, it’s crucial to understand the three fundamental laws of the mind:
1. Law of Concentrated Attention
This law states that whatever you focus on repeatedly will eventually become part of your subconscious programming. By concentrating your attention on a positive idea, it tends to realize itself over time.
Think back to when you learned multiplication tables. Repetition and concentration made the knowledge stick. Hypnosis accelerates this process by directly accessing the subconscious, bypassing the need for prolonged repetition.
2. Law of Dominant Effect
Your mind can only hold one dominant attitude at a time, whether positive or negative. Strong emotions tend to replace weaker ones. By attaching a strong positive emotion to a suggestion, you can influence the dominant effect in your favor.
Imagine your favorite vacation spot and immerse yourself in the sensory experience. Notice how positive emotions replace any negative feelings. Hypnosis strengthens this effect, creating a dominant positive attitude towards your sales goals.
3. Law of Reversed Effect
The harder you try to do something consciously, the less effective it becomes. Relaxing and letting your subconscious mind take over often yields better results. This is why conscious effort can sometimes hinder performance, while a relaxed state allows the subconscious to perform optimally.
How we do it:
The Flow Center’s program has been helping people for decades who want to banish their negative thoughts and habits and transform their lives:
Journey deep into your subconscious: You’ll be guided into a deeply relaxed state that lets all other thoughts fall away so your mind can focus. This allows your subconscious to be more receptive to suggestion. The hypnotist will begin to unlock issues that have prevented you from experiencing self-acceptance and bring them to the surface.
Create new lovable habits for yourself: The hypnotist will then reprogram your old internal belief system and rewire it to accept self-love. This new “coding” will allow you to transform the way you see, respond, and attach meaning to your issues. Instead of the negative emotions and patterns you once had, you’ll be able to create new and lovable habits surrounding the way you see yourself.
Develop new positive and loving beliefs: The voices in your head telling you that you’re not enough will be silenced. No more beating yourself up. Instead, you’ll have effortless kindness and respect for the amazing person you already are. You’ll be able to step confidently into new habits that celebrate all your strengths and see your old habits with more compassion as they depart from your life.
Imagine a future where it is all possible: You’ll be able to take more chances now that nothing is holding you back. Boldly embrace a new mindset where the opportunities open to you are endless. Nothing is beyond you. In fact, success is at the forefront of your mind.
Additionally, imagine a future where you break the cycle of negative thinking so your children don’t have to go through what you did.
See the benefits of self-love: The result is a gentle and effective ability to return to your natural love for yourself. It’s always been there, but it eroded over time when those negative beliefs crept in. Now that you’ve released those feelings, you have more space to allow your self-esteem to blossom.
