What is the gift of shift? A shirt in perspective.
It is the spontaneous realization that in any moment you can shift your attitude, your thoughts, and your feelings. And therefore your next step in life. Nice thought. Nice gift.
Lately fear has taken over. We were caught off guard and fear rushed in. (Covid 19 March 2020)
That is how your body works, your brain has some primitive functions that are alive and well and fear puts you in fight or flight mode which, as the first course of business shuts off your critical thinking skills.
With all the changes to society lately: you may be lonely, fearful, and stressed because there was too much change too fast, and it seems like there is nothing you can do about it.
But there is, you can take back control of your attitude, your thoughts, and your feelings. And do so naturally. With the gift of shift through hypnosis.
How is this possible? It is just as possible as you being affected negatively by some political post that is in opposition to your ideals. You see, what happens is that you are in a trance while scrolling social media and you see something that evokes an emotion, the image that is associated with it becomes a trigger for that emotional thought. So that each time you see it, the image triggers a response and it gets stronger and stronger in your mind. And it actually beings to stress you out. Stressors can be subtle and come on gradually like social media or quickly like when something devastating happens suddenly.
To help you understand more completely there are two elements involved: The Stressor and the resulting Stress.
A stressor is any stimulus or event capable of producing physical or emotional stress.
Stress is a physiological and psychological response to that stimulus and it is called Fight or Flight. In that state, the body produces glucocorticoid which leads to high blood pressure, suppression of immune system, weakening of the muscles and damage to the hippocampus in the brain. It does this in response to a condition that threatens or challenges a person and requires some form of adaptation or adjustment (feeling like you need to run away, protect yourself, or fight back) and it is something we learned through genetics, but mostly from the behavior or our parents, grandparents, and others.

Managing your response to stress is so vital because stress is said to be the cause of most life threatening diseases.
We can’t make your life stress free… but hypnosis teaches your mind/body a new response—the relaxation response (developed by Dr. Herbert Benson, a cardiologist) which is a state of mental clarity and physical relaxation, as opposed to a reactive and unhealthy response to the stressor.
People seek out hypnosis for stress because nothing else seems to work.
For most of my clients, they really don’t care how hypnosis works, they have heard it helps people and are usually seeking a hypnotherapist after they have tried everything else. Maybe that is the right motivational factor and that is what creates the success. The gift of shift again is a shift in a person’s perspective. Like going up to the penthouse and see the view of the city as opposed to the view from the 3rd floor. Or ascending the peak and seeing miles in all directions as opposed to standing at the base and just seeing tree trunks. And hypnosis is a state of mind that allows this to occur. A state of mind that is as easily to achieve as driving across a state line.
