Help me figure out the subconscious meaning of my dream
Are you a seeker? Do you like figuring things out? Are you always wondering the meaning of something? Or, when there is a problem, are you a MUST SOLVE THE PROBLEM kind-of- person?
Then help me figure out the meaning of my dream.
The other night I had a seemingly meaningless dream that stayed with me for days (which means it was not meaningless). I’m sure you have had several dreams like that in your lifetime.
It has been said that dreams are a window into the subconscious. You see, the subconscious mind stores of information (libraries of information) and can only express that information thru images, feelings and behaviors (to put it simply). When we dream we are sorting things out, filing things away, finding a deeper meaning, or gaining an insight. So, all you seekers out there…dreaming is the most fantastic way to know the answer to something.
Let’s go deeper. Then I’ll explain my dream.
The subconscious mind as I said above can only express what it has received. So, if you ask a question, it must find an answer. If I asked you what was the color of your first bicycle, you will begin the process of recalling that information. And if you ask something subjective, like: What would it take for me to get a new job, or a new house, or a new partner, etc. Your mind will go to work to find out that answer. You won’t know it directly but an insight usually comes and we naturally go in that direction (unless there are some self – defeating believes getting in your way-then you need to call me for a session).
If we don’t ask the question for whatever is bothering us, or don’t know that we can…we are stuck. And that ‘stuckness’ can be presented in a dream…like the one I had about a pencil being stuck thru my foot. Ouch!
My meaningful dream came at a time in my life when I had been through some strange physical ailments…like West Nile Virus in January of 2022. Then there was the other virus that is naturally occurring in the soil, then I had some skin eruptions.
During that time I was under the care of a holistic practitioner and was adhering to the strict protocol 90% of time to improve digestive health and also re-balance my body thru Chinese Medicine practices.
2020 was a very stressful year. Remember? I never realized until the dream that my body had been thru a lot since then and I was still pushing through, moving on, doing all the things I wanted to do.
My history of illness was a blank book until 2022. No allergies, no seasonal colds, no flu, no covid, so being sick was scary. I relied 100% of this person to give me advice and tell me what to do and I did until it seemed like it wasn’t working..then I got more worried, fearful and then angry. Then they (subtlety) blamed me for the anger emotion which created more anger and I was in a cycle and feeling anxious and then I realized:
It was the anger that woke me up. My dream did too, and I will get to that in a bit. First, more backstory.
Now, let’s go back to 2021 when I got my hens…seeing those creatures daily made it hard to eat chicken and so I stopped. Never much of a bean or dairy person I choose nuts and eggs for protein. This went on for a year. In April of 2022, my hair started falling out. “NOW what is wrong with me?” I screamed.
Then the dream.
In my dream I was on a lovely beach with my ex boyfriend Daniel (he was always the one that pointed out the obvious). On the beach, I somehow got a pencil stuck through my foot (dreams are bizarre) and sitting down to examine the problem I immediately turned to him and said, “You have to take this out of my foot!” He replied, “I can’t do that, you have to do it.” “No, I pleaded, I can’t,” and he said, “Yes you can, you have to do your own work.”
Then I woke up. Literally and Figuratively.
-2020 stressful year, business sucked/financial burdens (for a LOT of people too), dry skin, irriatable
-2021 stopped eating meat, reduced alcohol, building my business back
-2021-2022 implemented a strict protocol, eliminated alcohol for 4 months
-2022 viruses and other issues, weariness, anger, hair loss
I should have seen it coming. But still confused and fearful (which makes all of the symptoms worse)…I will note here that I did start using some hypnosis recordings that I made and they helped me relax and trust my own body to heal.
In early April decided to take a break from that year long protocol and see my chiropractor/acupuncturist for his take on it all, he is also a master in allergy elimination (think sensitivities to food and other things in the environment) he cleared some sensitivities and also suggested a lymphatic massage.
The massage therapist, the trusted and wonderful Tim Wallace, asked when I mentioned the hair loss, “How much protein do you eat?” It was like an awakening. I looked up the quantities of protein in almonds and eggs and I was only taking in 20 – 25 grams a day. I needed twice that. I made the necessary adjustments and added collagen powder to my diet. And reluctantly went back to my routine of a whole bird stewed for the bone broth. It really is best for my blood type to eat meat. Sorry chickens (and vegetarians).
This isn’t about the protocol or eating meat or not or supplements or DOING ANYTHING. During all of this I realized I became unhappy. Fear does that to people.
I had to do the work. I had to say, I’m in charge. What do I need?
Then the “You Can Heal Your Life” book that I’ve had for 20 years falls off the shelf at home when I was pulling another book. Oh Louise!
I am indebted to the work of the following to keep me healthy, and I am even more appreciative to my own inner instincts (that I ignored during my crisis).

Hypnosis is a form of cooperative therapy that targets specific problems and attitudes. Hypnosis is based on the idea that each client is willing to work toward a goal with a qualified specialist, and break out of bad patterns. If certain behaviors are threatening personal relationships, physical and emotional health, or success at work, it could be helpful to examine the root of these problems in a controlled environment with a certified hypnotist. Hypnosis provides clarity to clients who may not understand their inability to change or improve chronic situations in their lives.
Valerie Grimes is a clinical hypnotherapist (CHt). Previously the staff hypnotist at Kaner Medical Group (Bedford), she is a recognized master at helping people overcome the negative belief systems, false opinions and self-defeating habits that reside in their sub-conscious minds. She has worked to eliminate negative patterns which consistently sabotage client relationships, health and opportunities for success in business and life. In 2002, she graduated from the Dallas Hypnosis Training Institute in Irving with 300 classroom and clinical hours. She is the owner of The Flow Center in Dallas. She became a BARS practitioner in January 2022.
